Dick Whittignton
12th to 24th December 2009
The second production of the new Trap 4 company brought back many of the company who performed so well in Cinderella in 2008. With the production and design teams remaining the same, they were able to build on their previous success and move forward to greater heights.
The audiences again enjoyed the pairing of James Yule and Gavin Davidson, who continued their outrageous performances as joint dames, generally causing chaos and playing havoc with the original scripts. Stephanie Bruce (new to the Inverurie panto though not the Town Hall) took the eponymous role of Dick, accompanied by Stephanie Ross as her faithful cat, Loco. Jill Hay was the Doric speaking Mrs Fitzwarren, mother of Alice, played by Sophie Hamilton, with Richard Garden as Idle Jack, their useless employee.
The struggle between good and evil was personified by Michelle Bruce (another newcomer to the panto) as the good Fairy of Bow Bells and Laura Jarret as Queen Rat, who scared everyone within earshot.
The other principals were Cat Arnell (Captain Sprat), Gemma Hay (Winkle), Rachael Watson (Sultana Pancake) and Craig Pike (Sultan Vinegar) who lived in Morocco but was another Doric speaking escapee from Inverurie.
