Pantomime in Inverurie since 1980

How it started

In 1980, His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen was closed for refurbishment, which meant there would be no pantomime in Aberdeen that year. A group of local people came together and staged Peter Pan in Inverurie Town Hall instead, with three evening performances on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of December.

The Panto has been part of Christmas in Inverurie ever since. In 2001, Trap 4 Limited took over the running of the production, and in 2008 Keith Donaldson bought Trap 4. Since then the Panto has been produced by his company, Sets in Motion Limited.

How we run it

The Panto is run as a local business. We reinvest in the show every year, and we’re proud to support local charities through our audience collections and donations.

We put the same care into the show as any big theatre production. Our sets are designed and built for each show by our own team, and our lighting and sound are designed by professional theatre technicians, using the same professional kit you’ll find in the country’s biggest theatres. Add a fantastic mix of music, dance and local humour, performed by a talented local cast, and it’s a proper night at the theatre, right here in Inverurie.

Alongside the public performances, we stage a community outreach performance for children with additional support needs, and a charity performance with Cash for Kids.
